The Small Business Administration is America’s largest single financial backer of small businesses, with direct guarantee loans of more than $90 billion. Mills plans to discuss how the federal agency understands SMBs as the most likely candidates to end the economic recession.
Mills’ National Press Club luncheon will be held at 12:30 on December 14, 2009. SMB owners can attend Mills’ talk on SMBs and economic recovery through general admission for $35.
Mills and the SBA are not alone in thinking that small businesses will bring about economic recovery; many SMB owners feel they hold the potential to collectively bring about an economic turnaround.
Entrepreneurs participating in the Committee on Small Business issued a statement on SMB’s role in economic recovery. Chairwoman Nydia Velazquez articulated the responsibility she and other SMB owners feel, saying, “If we are going to bring our economy back on track, were going to need to promote innovation and job creation for our nation’s small businesses.”
