If You Could Start Any Business You Wanted, What Would It Be?
According to a survey commissioned by BMO Bank of Montreal, if a person won $1 million and could start any business he or she wanted, a boutique or specialty store would be the choice (25%).
The second most popular choice was to open a franchise (17%), while starting an online business was third (9%).
What other kinds of businesses would people start if they could?
Starting a coffee shop was the favourite for 8% and opening a restaurant the first choice for 7%.
Surprisingly to me, only three percent of people would choose to open a personal services business. I find that strange because personal services is such a big tent, covering everything from lawn mowing services through nail salons.
Perhaps these businesses just aren’t thought of as “big enough” dreams when people are thinking of their dream businesses?
Many of the businesses I see and read about people starting are in this category, though, probably because personal service businesses are generally more within the reach of average people.
